The FTTx system consists of three parts: OLT, ONU and ODN. As an important part of the FTTx system, the ODN is the optical transmission physical channel between the OLT and the ONU. It is usually composed of optical fiber cables, optical connectors, optical splitters, and supporting equipment for installing and connecting these devices.

ODN consists of five parts: feeder cable segment, fiber optic cable distribution point, distribution cable segment, fiber optic cable access point and home segment. From the ODF rack in the central office room to the feeder segment of the optical cable distribution point, it is used as the backbone optical cable to achieve long-distance coverage; from the optical cable distribution point to the user access point, the distribution segment of the optical fiber is distributed to the user area along the feeder cable. ; User access point to the terminal's home segment, to achieve fiber-to-the-home.
